YEDay General Info

  • The EAA Young Eagles program gives youth ages 8-17 their first free ride in an airplane and more information about the program can be found here: https://www.eaa.org/eaa/youth/free-ye-flights/become-a-young-eagle.
  • You can find and register for a Young Eagles Day event in the USA and find an event local to you, by entering your postcode here: https://eaachapters.org/
  • EAA Chapter 20 volunteers fly Young Eagles out of San Carlos Airport (KSQL) on the third Saturday of almost every month (not July or December).
Events usually run from 9am at: 795 Skyway Rd Suite A, San Carlos, CA 94070 (meeting inside San Carlos Flight Center)
  • You must register for our events in advance and the event opens online on the first day of each event month: https://eaachapters.org/
(eg: registrations for an event on Saturday 20th April would open early on the 1st April)
Note that slots often fill up fast on the first of the month, but we try to keep a waitlist since plans change and often we have cancellations or additional pilots might join at the last minute
  • Our events are subject to volunteer pilot availability, weather and safety checks so we ask that you remain flexible with changing conditions and that your own RSVP remains up to date (we aim for 100% Young Eagle attendance).
  • If you miss out on a place when registrations open on the first of the month, check the portal again closer to the event. If we get cancellations or more pilots than expected, we are able to open the waitlist to more Young Eagles, so it's worth checking back on the portal.
  • Pilots wanting to volunteer can learn more here (then reach out by email to join us at KSQL): https://www.eaa.org/eaa/youth/free-ye-flights/young-eagles-resources-for-chapters-and-volunteer-pilots/volunteer-pilot-resources/eaa-young-eagles-volunteer-pilots
EAA Chapter 20 has more to offer, beyond the Young Eagles Flights!
