Since we're based in Silicon Valley, many members work in tech or other industries and enjoy aviation as a hobby. Note: Membership and dues in national EAA is separate from joining a local chapter. To join national EAA, go to the EAA membership page.
Q. How can my child get a free plane ride? A. Chapter 20 pilots have participated in the national EAA program called Young Eagles since its inception. Visit yeday.org, search events by zip code, and fill out the registration form for an upcoming event. Our events are typically held the third Saturday of the month. You must print out, sign, and bring the waiver form to the event. The aim of Young Eagles is to introduce kids between the ages of 8 and 17 to aviation by giving them a free ride in a small plane and extending the offer of a free student membership.
Q. Can you help me get my private pilot's license? A. For more information about becoming a private pilot, watch this Young Aviators talk video. You can talk to chapter members about their training experiences, but we do not train pilots. We recommend that you visit a local flight training school for more information. Most offer a low-cost introductory lesson. If you are high school or college age, you can join our Young Aviators community to learn more about scholarship and mentorship opportunities.
